At the center of the book The Outsiders the author, S.E. Hinton was trying to deal with the problem of gangs in her school who were clashing violently. Think back to the books you have read, TV and movie programs you have seen, or current events in the world. Where else have you seen two groups of people fighting each other over their differences?
Your blog entry should state where you have seen this conflict, thoroughly describe the two groups who were fighting, and explain why they were fighting.

MEAN GIRLS...the plastics are stuck up like the socs would be and everybody else is like outsiders like the greasers and they fight and have a lot of differences. The socs are rich and the plastics are, the greasers aren't really popular and dont have as much money like the people in the mean girls.
ReplyDeleteI remember the book "To Kill a Mocking Bird" where all the whites in the town hated the african aI remember the book "To Kill a Mocking Bird" where mericans and accused them a horrible crime. They mostly hated the african americans for just having a different skin color. Lynch groups were formed and only the whites got violent.
ReplyDeleteOne of the places I have seen a conflict like the one in The Outsiders is in the book The Twenty-One Balloons. In this story a man intrudes on the strict way of life of a community on an isolated island. The community has a specific way they think things should happen and they do the same things on a schedule every day of every year. The man who ends up on their island wants them to do things differently because of the many valuable things they have. He tries to change their way of life and they disagree. The man eventually leaves and promises he will not tell anyone else about the 'hidden community' but yet he does and it changes their way of doing things because then everyone knows about them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm watching TV shows like C.S.I Miami and other crime shows I see alot of gang fights. Many gang members in New York fight each other over racial issues or territorial issues. Crime shows often stress these gang fights and in the end one member of a gang usually dies.
ReplyDeleteEveryday you see ppl criticizing each other over race religion or other differences. Most wars start over simple differences that turn into hate. Night is a good example of this. Germans hated the jews because of their religious difference and tried to exterminate them all. This all started WW2
ReplyDeleteThere's one episode of Hannah Montana where Hannah and Mckayla had to perform at the same concert for charity. I don't think that they have ever liked eachother just because of the jealousy between both pop stars of one thinking the other is better than the other. Those two in particular don't get along because Mckayla thinks she sings better than Hannah and both of their managers hate eachother too.
ReplyDeleteAnother example of gangs or groups fighting is in Romeo and Juliet. This is a conflict between the Moniques and the Capulets. They are fighting because they are of two different classes and for generations, their families have hated each other greatly. The Capulets are more of the rich and wealthy and the Moniques are more of a lower class. They especially fight because one person from each gang fall in love and at the end the parents do certainly not agree at first. This greatly relates to the Outsiders because The Socs are more like the Capulets and the Greasers are more like the Moniques.
ReplyDeleteI have seen racial disputes in my life. Fighting over the way they treat eachother and its wrong i doing so. Everybody always wants treated well but they dont want to do it in return. Everyone needs treated equally.
ReplyDeleteI have seen two groups of people fighting within books, television, and within current events in the world. The differences i've seen is the color difference of being black or white. People have fought over this because racism is something that has been carried on through generations. Whites sometimes think that they are superior to blacks because they think that everything they have is better and that blacks should be working under them. Racism is still a problem today, but its not as bad as it used to be. Things are equal, you cant say no to someone because of their color.
ReplyDeleteA movie that I've seen that has two groups fighting is Twilight. The groups are the vampires and the bad/evil vampires. The reason why they are fighting is because the evil group wants to kill Bella because she is a human. And, when they smell a human, they want to kill him or her. The good vampires try to stop them but they cant in the beginning but they do at the end.
ReplyDeleteIn most TV shows there are two social classes, the popular people and average people. These two groups fight in shows or books. Many times they will fight because the popular people dont like the average people trying to fit in
ReplyDeletewell.....twilight for instance, there are two different kinds of "vampires", the one group kills and feeds off of humans and the other group is nice and feed off of animals. well the main girl that likes edward, who is a good vampire, her scent is one that neither group can resist. the bad group hunts her and the good group protects her because edward is "in love with her". and that's the conflict...
ReplyDeleteOne conflict I remember is from a movie called 300 (great movie btw). The entire movie is based on the conflict between the Persian Empire and Sparta. Some friction builds when a messenger from Persia demands that Sparta supports their soldiers by supplying water and shelter for them for the time being. When Leonidas, the king of Sparta, declines their proposal Persia declares war on Sparta. They proceed to fight a brutal war and idk the movie kind of end in a cliff hanger.
ReplyDeleteAn example of two groups against eachother was, in the book im currently reading in addition to the Outsiders, called Perfect Chemistry. In the book the town is separated into the North, which are the rich kids, and the South, which are the poorer mexican gang kids. They fight just because of their money differences. This separation of the rich and the poor is very similar to the Outsiders.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie Grease. They are two different gangs or groups, one in one school and then they fight with this other group from a different school. Both groups think they are the best and have better cars and everything then the other. They fight about whose car is better and have a race to prove it. The gang from the different school shows to be richer also and the T-birds from the main school doesn't seem to have as much. That plays a factor when having a better car then the other. The groups hate eachother and even get real mad when they date or talk to a girl from their school.
ReplyDeleteIn the War of the Roses two rival houses, Lancaster and York, and their supporters fought each other for the throne of England. It took place between 1455 and 1487. In the end, the victor Henry Tudor, founded the Tudor house which ruled England for over 100 years.
ReplyDeletewhen government is passing laws people protest against it and for it.
ReplyDeleteOn sony with a chance there is two TV shows one called So Random and other called Mckenzie falls and they are competin to see which show will do better. They have competition to see who likes there show more.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. is fighting al-qaeda because they attacked our country. Muslim Extremestis sterotype the West as materalistic, ignorant, they hate Christianity, they think we are violent, and have invaded thier lands what they consider holy. America is fighting al-qaeda because they use religion to kill innocent people such as Americans and our allies Is Israel which they also attack. We fight them because they preach hatred towards people who aren't Muslim. Thats why the U.S. and al-qaeda fight.
ReplyDeleteThroughout my life, I have seen many different conflicts between two groups of people because of their differences. One example is the war in Iraq. Americans are in Iraq trying to help them build a government, but they aren't accepting our help. We are fighting over our differences, like religion and race. Another example is in the movie, Freedom Writers. There is a class full of diversity that often fight. They fight because they are all of different decsents and races. There are conflicts everyday that arise mainly because of differences like race, sex, origin, and many other reasons.
ReplyDeleteThrough my life of watching tv, i have seen many tv shows with conflicts in them. One show that i have seen is sony with a chance. On sony with a chance there are two groups so radom and mckenzie falls. The two groups try to out do each other and try to see whos better.
ReplyDeletei have seen this on charmed where the witches are fighting the deamonds. the to groups are fighting for the control over the world. the witches have difrent powers but they also can combine their powers to form one power.
ReplyDeletein the world today there is racism. this conflict between blacks and whites has been going on for years and is still seen in our everyday life. the whites believe that they are better than the blacks because when the blacks were brought over to america from africa they were ment to work on the plantations for the whites, and i believe that the whites just never appriciated the blacks and all of the work that they were doing.
ReplyDeleteIn the book "To Kill a Mocking bird" all the white people were being racist against all the black people. The white people blamed a black man for something he didnt do and everyone was being racist about it.
ReplyDeletemost times in neiborhoods, i'll walk by houses with friends, and people will stare at us thinking we're only there to cause trouble so sometimes we'll get some kid thinking he's doing something necessary and follows us up the street saying we have one more warning to stay away from their house, or they'll come for us. we stay on the road and he stands on the edge of the yard. we fight because we dress different. plus, i think them and us dont know how to talk things out and just go for fighting when it really needs to happen.
ReplyDeleteIt normally happens around my neighborhood when its my block against another block. Basically because someone will ask whos he looking at then conflicts come into place.
